As we continue living the “with God” life, we discover He leads with knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Paul’s prayer for all believers is this:
… do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled to the knowledge of His will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Col 1:9-10 NKJV.
The Lord knows how much we need to grow spiritually and in our relationship with Him. He understands this comes through knowledge, wisdom, and understanding poured into our souls from the Word illuminated by the Holy Spirit.
Knowledge
Knowledge is familiarity gained through experience or association. Our knowledge and understanding expand when we comprehend the truth. The Holy Spirit reveals what we know through His power, counsel, and instruction, as God desires us to know it.
The knowledge we gain by being disciples of Christ is perfect, sure, and understandable. God wants to be known, seen and heard. We gain this through His sacred word and personal experience in His presence. We fellowship with Him in the Secret Place — there He speaks, we listen, pray, and hears us.
Furthermore, we know God and His will because He makes it so He does this to protect and guard our hearts.
My son, give attention to My words; incline your ear to My sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life to those who find them and health to your flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Prov 4:20-23 NKJV.
Wisdom
Wisdom is also a matter of the heart. God’s perfect and sure wisdom protects our minds, emotions, and will. Remember the importance of truth in spiritual warfare.
We accumulate wisdom as we walk with God daily. It is the ability to discern fact from fiction. Truth is not something we make, but Someone we trust. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Wisdom is marked by in-depth understanding, keen discernment, and sound judgment. The Lord God Himself, in the inner recesses of our souls, instructs, rebukes, corrects, and trains us how to live in a dark and dreary land delivered from the power of sin, death, and darkness, and this is how we gain wisdom.
We attain wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God’s way, will, and word because God initiates it, and we will receive it. Such wisdom comes from an intimate, personal, and loving relationship with the One — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Let the word of Christ dwell richly in all wisdom… Col 3:16 NKJV.
Honest knowledge of God comes to us in our dedicated devotion to Him. The Spirit of truth strengthens our relationship. The “with God” life is not merely a concept, but a reality. We grow deeper and mature as we spend more time with Him — His Word, prayer, and living peacefully with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Let what happens between you and Father God in the Secret Place shine as the light of day.
We gain understanding, knowledge, and wisdom at the Master’s feet. The Secret Place is dynamic, active, and engaging. God rewards us when we enter the Secret Place because in His presence, He reveals His way, His will, and His Word.
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you shut your door, pray to your Father, who is in the secret place, and your Father, who sees you in secret, will reward you. Matt 6:6 NKJV.
Understanding
Although we may think wisdom and knowledge are the same as understanding, we would be mistaken. Understanding requires grasping the knowledge and wisdom given by God daily. In the Secret Place, we become familiar with God’s character and His inspired Word.
We can no more separate God from His word than we can separate a man from his heart and still expect him to live.
Understanding gives us the power to comprehend with a yielded heart and a transformed mind. Comprehending is God’s way of passing His knowledge and wisdom. The Holy Spirit gives us the capacity to understand. Look closely, and you will see knowledge, wisdom, and understanding is the reward of a faithful and harmonious loving relationship.
You live with God, and God grants you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Never underestimate the power of your loving relationship with the Living God.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then, you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — His good, pleasing, and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 NIV.
In Conclusion
The present evil age (culture) has its own pattern of thinking and gaining knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. On the other hand, a life-changing, loving relationship with the Lord. As you believe, adhere to, trust in, and rely on God, you will walk in His way and gain His thoughts.
Adhere is a necessary term. It means to hold fast to and stick by the Lord while staying loyal as a disciple. So, maintain your loyalty, and continue to bind yourself to observe and learn in the Secret Place.
If you want a dynamic, intimate, and mature relationship with God, seek His face and ask Him about the mysteries of the deeper Christian life. He will not disappoint. Make serious time for the Lord because He makes time for you. I suggest you continue praying in the shower, in the car, or between the vehicle and your job. However, I seriously think you should add a special time and place to be alone with God so He can pour into your soul what you need to live the with-God life.
Years tell the tale of God’s faithfulness. Your relationship with Him is not one-way but two-way. He wants to teach, counsel, and direct you as you desire to know Him intimately. He wants to be seen, heard, and known by you, His child. The invitation is always open, and only you can close it.
Come to Me… and learn from Me… Matt 11:25
Prayer
Father God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, by your outstretched arm and mighty word. Holy is Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Save me, and I am saved. Lead me, and I am led. I yield to your gentle instruction, sure rebuke, perfect correction, and complete training in living right. Thank you for Your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Indeed, your thoughts are not my thoughts nor your ways, my ways, but my heart is grateful for your revealed thoughts and beautiful way. I am humbled by your tender care and loving hand. Thank you so much. I love you, Lord. Amen.
Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts… My word that goes out from My mouth, it will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isa 55:6-8 & 11 NKJV.
