True Grace of God

Uncategorized

18 Dec

Read Chapter 5 of 1st Peter. In this last chapter, we’re given a picture of true grace for every faithful Christian. We’ve gained the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the true provision of God. We are in exile, but not alone. Furthermore, we are foreigners in a strange land, but not without a king. The Lord provides us with elders…

Christian, Are You Suffering?

Christian life· Reading Plan· Scripture Engagement

11 Dec

First, let us read 1 Peter 4:12-19 together. We may have been told that when we accepted Christ, that there would only be sunshine and roses. We may have even believed it, only to find our problems remained, and suffering did not disappear. But we’ve changed. We are different now, we live the “with-God” life. It is true, suffering results…

With-God Life, in Exile

Christian life· Reading Plan· Scripture Engagement

4 Dec

Read 1st Peter 4:1-11. As we read these verses, we’re reminded of who we are: born again, redeemed, reconciled, and sanctified by the Spirit. The new life you live is imperishable, undefiled, unfading, and personal (Read 1st Peter 1 if you need a refresher). You live “with-God”! You, by God’s power, are being guarded through your faith and God is…

Terms a Child of God Needs to Know

Sacred Scripture contains words that are sent to us spiritually blessed and preserved. They’re not meant to be taken softly or lightly. God’s Word helps us understand the mind of Christ. Romans demonstrates us the foundation of our faith: It is not enough to know the gospel, it must transform us. This requires our daily fellowship with the Father, in…

Suffer?

Read 1st Peter 3:18-22. As Christians, we are not immune to suffering. For some, that may be a new revelation. But when we suffer, let us not forget who we are: chosen, destined, sanctified by the Spirit, in obedience and washed by the blood of the Lamb. Remember, your citizenship is in the kingdom of God – you are foreigners…

Do You Want to be Blessed?

Reading Plan· Scripture Engagement

20 Nov

Who wouldn’t want to inherit a blessing? Read 1st Peter 3:8-12 and see what I mean. The mark of the Christian life and our blessing shows in our relationships with our husband, our children, neighbors, those in the church, and our those who just don’t like us. Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate…

God’s Will in Marriage (1st Peter 3:1-7)

Christian life· Reading Plan· Scripture Engagement

13 Nov

Next to the vow of commitment, you take to the Lord, the marriage vow is the most sacred and intimate on earth. The Lord cares about your relationship as man and wife. We are entering Chapter 3 of 1st Peter, and immediately we’re given instruction on how to behave in God’s presence – in marriage. He uses Peter to speak…

God’s Will in the Workplace (1st Peter 2:18-25)

Christian life· Reading Plan· Scripture Engagement

6 Nov

God’s word is perfect and effective in guiding us in how to live as citizens and employees. In many ways, we are “slaves” to the workplace, and the way we work for our employer matters—it matters to God. Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men… For it is God’s will that by doing good you…

Law-abiding Citizens (I Peter 2:13-17)

30 Oct

We called to be law-abiding citizens. We’ve spent four weeks discussing how we present ourselves to God: holy, in one mind, mature, and in community. Now we are prepared to see what God’s word says about what we are to do as citizens, employees, family members, and in society. Troubled Times I guess this is as good a day as…

Where Are You in Relationship with God?

Keystone verse for Sister to SisterDisciples

At that time, those who feared the LORD spoke to one another. The LORD took notice and listened. So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who feared the LORD and had high regard for His name. “They will be Mine,” says the LORD of Armies, “My own possession on the day I am preparing. .
